Are you spending a few days on Monte Amiata and want to try something different and a little adrenaline? Then you can’t miss the Indiana Park, located in Prato delle Macinaie, 5 kilometers from the top of the mountain.
The Indiana Park is an adventure park, immersed in the green woods of the mountains, where adults and children can have fun facing more or less challenging routes. Acrobatic routes, walks in the trees and much more await you!
The main feature of the park are the routes, eight in total, divided between easy and more challenging, suitable only for children or all.
It starts with the little ones: the blue, yellow and orange paths are designed for children aged five to nine. Your children can cross various types of bridges that connect the many trees of the beech forest in which the park is immersed, climb on specially equipped walls, walk on swinging trunks.
Exceeded the nine years, or exceeded the meter and thirty of height, the doors of other paths are opened, Green, Purple and Blue, where the activities increase and become more binding.
Finally there is the Red route, which is accessed over a meter and a half high.
So many routes, and lots of fun, with an eye on the safety of adults and children.
All participants, before being able to do any route, will be equipped with a harness and pulley and will be subjected to an obligatory information briefing. For the paths of the little ones a continuous hooking system has been designed, which allows the child to make the journey while remaining hooked, without the possibility of accidental release and which can only be opened when the same will again have his feet on the ground again.
For older children, a system of secure and certified double hooks will make it possible to never remain without at least one of the two carabiners fastened during the journey: in fact, the system prevents the accidental release of both carabiners at the same time.
The park staff is also highly qualified and constantly updated on safety matters.
Timetables and prices
Prices are divided between children and adults. The children, at the cost of 10 euros, will be able to use the Yellow, Orange and Blue routes for a total of one hour. The cost of the adult ticket is 17 euros and allows the use of all routes for a total of two hours and thirty minutes.
As for the timetables, and always bearing in mind that they are subject to weather conditions, in the summer (from 15 June to 15 September) the park is open every day, from 10:00 am to sunset. The rest of the year, however, the park is only open on Saturday afternoons from 2.00pm and on Sunday from 10.00am to sunset. In winter we recommend contacting the park to check the actual opening times.
Moving away from Monte Amiata and descending towards Val d’Orcia, another adventure park, managed by the same company, is located in Chianciano Terme.
I want to reach the park. Where can I find it?
Reaching the adventure park is very simple. From Abbadia San Salvatore proceed to the Amiata summit until the crossroad for Arcidosso / Castel del Piano, indications for Prato delle Macinaie. From Castel del Piano, in the direction of the Amiata peak, after about 10 km you will find yourself directly on the Prato delle Macinaie.
