My name is Daniele Tondi, I am a businessman and I live in Abbadia San Salvatore. Today I want to participate in the column “The places of the heart” of Valdorciamiata.it leaving my testimony of a magical place, truly wonderful: it is the Capomacchia refuge and it is this hut that you see behind me. It is located on Mount Amiata at 1400 meters above sea level.
We are surrounded by snow, still beautiful fresh snow, and the refuge can be reached by taking the Capomacchia path of the same name, which starts from Abbadia, reaches the Amiata peak and descends back to the starting point.
A quite challenging but very beautiful route to do in all seasons.
In the column “The places of the heart” you are also asked to indicate a particularly popular local recipe … if at this moment I had a piece of Ricciolina, which is the typical coke of Abbadia San Salvatore, I would be really happy
I still have 15 kilometers to go, but it is absolutely worth it to get here, I guarantee it.
