On Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October 2026, Camigliano, in the municipality of Montalcino, hosts the Sagra del Galletto, an early-autumn event dedicated to local food and the popular traditions of the Sienese countryside.
Why go
The festival is a good opportunity to discover a less-visited hamlet in the Montalcino area, combining a day among villages, vineyards and Val d’Orcia landscapes with a convivial event strongly rooted in the local community.
Programme and tradition
According to the calendar published by Montalcino dal Vivo, the festival opens on Saturday with dinner and an evening of free-entry music. On Sunday, food stands are scheduled for both lunch and dinner.
One of the most distinctive moments is the Torneo della Druzzola, a re-enactment linked to Camigliano’s local districts. The historical parade in 14th-century costumes introduces the competition, based on the throwing of the druzzola, a small olive-wood disc edged with iron. The programme also includes a performance by the folk group Il Trescone di Montalcino.
