On 25 October 2026, Montalcino’s Sagra del Tordo will also have a special way to get there: the Treno Natura, the tourist service on a historic train that crosses the Crete Senesi, the Val d’Orcia and the lands of Brunello.
The official programme includes departure from Siena at 8:55, passing through Monte Antico and Monte Amiata Scalo, followed by a bus transfer to Montalcino. Arrival in town is scheduled at around 11:45, with time available to visit the historic centre and follow the main moments of the Sagra del Tordo.
For visitors, this is an interesting proposal because it combines two highly recognisable experiences of the area: slow travel on a historic railway line and one of Montalcino’s best-known identity festivals, with costumed parades, neighbourhoods, archery and traditional dishes.
Tourist programme for the day
During the stay in Montalcino, the programme includes free time, an optional lunch in the town’s neighbourhoods and, for those who wish, a guided tour of the historic centre in the early afternoon. The historical parade of the Sagra del Tordo is scheduled for 15:00.
The return journey is planned for the afternoon: departure by bus from Montalcino at 16:35 towards Torrenieri, departure of the historic train at 17:10 and arrival in Siena at around 18:40. The programme is provisional and may change, so it is important to check times and availability before departure.
Tickets and reservations
Places are limited and booking is required. The official programme lists fares for adults, teenagers and children, with booking fees and an additional cost for the coach transfer. Conditions for groups and agencies are available on request.
