The Festa di San Michele returns to Santa Fiora on Saturday 3 October 2026 with an afternoon for families and visitors, celebrating chestnuts and the traditions of Mount Amiata.
The event takes place in Piazza San Michele and recalls the historic link between the feast of the archangel and the beginning of the chestnut harvest: a simple, popular moment, ideal for discovering Santa Fiora on an autumn day.
What the programme includes
The afternoon includes the presentation of the illustrated book L’antica gemma, with a workshop for children, face painting, games, music with Paolo DJ and karaoke. The celebration ends with the traditional hot-air balloon launch, one of the most distinctive elements of the feast.
Why it may interest visitors to Amiata
For those in the Val d’Orcia or on Mount Amiata in early October, the event offers a chance to experience Santa Fiora from a local perspective: religious tradition, chestnuts, children’s activities and a village atmosphere in a town already worth visiting for its historic centre, the Peschiera and the water trail.
When: Saturday 3 October 2026.
Where: Piazza San Michele, Santa Fiora.
