Radicofani (Siena), Sunday May 31, Monday June 1 and Tuesday June 2, 2026, welcomes back the 21st edition of the Festa degli Antichi Mestieri.
The festival brings the traditions of the past back to life, offering visitors historical reenactments of ancient crafts and rural activities on Sunday May 31 and Tuesday June 2. Throughout the streets of the historic center, guests will discover artisans at work, antique farming machinery, traditional threshing demonstrations, parades of vintage tractors and vehicles, antique markets, old-fashioned games, photography exhibitions, folk songs, live music and traditional ballroom dancing.
New for this year, the event will also feature historical reenactments dedicated to vintage tractors and traditional agricultural work, allowing visitors to experience even more closely the farming heritage and rural traditions of the area.
Monday June 1 will instead focus on vintage tractor reenactments, evening food stands and live music performances.
The festival programme also includes traditional food stands:
- Sunday: lunch and dinner
- Monday: dinner
- Tuesday: lunch and dinner
Visitors will be able to enjoy authentic local rural specialties, including the famous cazzagnoli, handmade by local women according to tradition. They are best enjoyed with aglione garlic sauce or classic meat ragù.
The name “Cazzagnoli” comes from the traditional preparation method: the pasta, made only with water and flour, was “cazzata”, meaning rolled out with an ansagnolo (rolling pin) and then cut by hand with a knife. The verb cazzare is still used in nautical terminology, where it means “to stretch or tighten”.
