During the Ferragosto weekend, Montalcino adds two special evenings to its summer calendar: on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August 2026, the historic centre will host events organised by Pro Loco Montalcino, with music, street performances and activities designed to enjoy the village after sunset.
The evening of 14 August is dedicated to the wait for Mezzagosto, with street performers along the streets of the centre and live music in Piazza del Popolo. On 15 August, the celebration continues across the town: according to local sources, the programme includes an opera concert from the small terrace of the Teatro degli Astrusi, music points in the centre and an Argentine tango performance in Piazza del Popolo.
For visitors spending the central days of August in the Val d’Orcia, Mezzagosto is an opportunity to combine a walk through Montalcino with an open-air evening, as the village comes alive with performances and initiatives in several areas of the historic centre.
The event is part of Montalcino Diary, the Municipality of Montalcino’s events calendar, which lists the Pro Loco initiative in town for the evening of 15 August.
