From 20 to 22 August 2026 Castel del Piano hosts a late-summer weekend combining local food and village festivities. Piazza Colonna will be the setting for the Festa del Baccalà, organised by Contrada Poggio, while on Saturday 22 August the town centre will also come alive for the Notte Bianca.
The Festa del Baccalà is an evening food event: public information indicates that the food stands open from 7:30 pm, followed by live music. For visitors exploring Monte Amiata, it is an easy stop to add after a day in Arcidosso, Santa Fiora, Montenero d’Orcia or along the woodland trails.
The evening of 22 August adds the lively atmosphere of the Notte Bianca. From 6:30 pm, the streets of Castel del Piano become a place for meeting, music and entertainment, with the town open until late. The combination of food festival and town-wide celebration makes the event suitable both for those looking for an informal dinner and for anyone who wants to experience the village on a lively summer evening.
Castel del Piano lies on the Grosseto side of Monte Amiata and is a good base for discovering hill towns, district traditions and nature itineraries. For visitors already in the area, the event can become an evening stop before continuing towards the villages of the Val d’Orcia and the Amiata.
